This article covers problems related to the attraction of foreign direct investment by Ukrainian business entities. Against the backdrop of the socioeconomic crisis, this topic becomes especially relevant as the receiving of foreign capital into the Ukrainian economy in such a difficult period is one of the main conditions for business development, maintenance and renewal of infrastructure. Today the investment climate in Ukraine can not be called as favorable, and the state is attractive to investors. Direct foreign investment in turn faces several barriers at once with inadequate infrastructure, corruption, an unstable tax system and so on, and, moreover, there is some inconsistency in the actions of investors and recipients of investments, their goals are different, the conditions for mastering money often become unacceptable for one of the parties. The article also for the first time emphasizes the problems concerned on the low activity of Ukrainian enterprises in attracting investment and proposing initiatives on implementing innovations into existing businesses and the creation of fundamentally new projects. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how targeting of investment attraction processes can contribute to the improvement of the investment climate in Ukraine. At the core of this work there is an idea that establishing a dialogue between potential recipients of investments and investors, harmonizing the interests of the parties, identifying the strategic priorities of the investor and adapting the domestic economic policy towards them, as well as seeking investors for strategically important sectors of the state. The article concludes with recommendations and examples of how the targeting of investment in the industry, which requires government support, should be implemented, and how it should optimize and improve its status on aspects that clearly increase the attractiveness of the targeted industry for investor. An example of one of the most popular industries in Ukraine in this work will show an improved model of interaction between investors and recipients of investments.
