Abstract

 The article analyzes the theoretical aspects of institutional financial infrastructure functioning as an integral part of the financial infrastructure. Essential aspects of institutional financial infrastructure, its role in modern financial economy are outlined. The interconnection between the definitions "financial sector" and "institutional financial infrastructure" is established. A grouping of financial institutions and their tools in the context of the characteristics of institutional financial infrastructure has been conducted.
