THE CREATION OF THE EUROPEAN ENERGY UNION: UKRAINIAN GAS MARKET PROSPECTS

Abstract

The article discusses the key trends of gas markets in Ukraine and in the European Union. The participation of the Ukrainian gas market in the EU Energy Union project is indirect, because it is not expected to integrate national networks into the European system. Ukraine may lose its status as the leading transit country of Russian gas to the EU. In any case, the role of the country can be effective and significant in a range of gas transmission network projects outlined in the paper
